This introductory course develops fundamental dance technique, creative movement, and performance skills. Students explore body, space, time, and energy through ballet, jazz, modern, and hip-hop, emphasizing body awareness, coordination, musicality, and safe practices. The course introduces improvisation, choreography, dance history, and reflection, fostering an appreciation for dance as a collaborative art form. Students build confidence, in the preparation for furthering their journey through the dance program.

This culminating course is for advanced students, offering an individualized capstone to showcase artistic growth. Students build a professional online portfolio, articulate how dance training informs future endeavors, and engage in advanced improvisation, choreography, and solo creation. They design and execute an original capstone project, culminating in a public presentation. This course prepares students for college/career pathways in dance and fulfills requirements for various honors designations, including the NVAA Honors Diploma Seal.
