Heidi Banuelos

Heidi Banuelos

Ms. Banuelos is the proud Principal of Shadow Mountain High School. 

Prior to coming to PV, Ms. Banuelos served as the Assistant Principal for Student Achievement and the Assistant Principal for Student Learning in Phoenix Union High School District, leading and supporting instructional initiatives and helping to ensure educational equity and access for all students. Before becoming an administrator, Ms. Banuelos taught K-12 for over a decade in ELA, Social Studies, and the Arts not only here in Arizona but also overseas in South Korea. 

Ms. Banuelos holds the following degrees: 

  • Master of Education: Educational Leadership & Administration, Grand Canyon University, 2019

  • Master of Education: Curriculum & Instruction, Arizona State University, 2009

  • Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies: Diversity in Education & Cultural Geography, Arizona State University, 2008

Ms. Banuelos looks forward to bringing her experience to the Matador community this year and looks forward to connecting with its students, staff, and families. 


 

Kathleen Alexander

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL HIGH SCHOOL

Instructional Services: 10th and 12th Graders

Kathleen Alexander has been in education long enough to remember open classrooms and open campuses. She prizes her Maryland public school education, as well as her years at Towson University, University of Maryland, the Johns Hopkins University and Northern Arizona University. Kathleen serves as the Assistant Principal for Instructional Services at SMHS.

Onquanette Nowels-Pierce

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL HIGH SCHOOL

Onquanette is a native of Chicago (The Windy City) who recently relocated to Arizona. She is beginning her 17th year as an administrator. She has taught elementary and middle school. Onquanette is married and has a beautiful blended family of 4 children. Onquanette holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s Degree, in Educational Administration and is currently striving to finish her Dissertation. She is involved in community service and is an advocate for education and opportunities for students. She believes in coaching teachers to grow in their craft and reach their full potential all while having high expectations for students. Onquanette enjoys working with students around learning, school and community related activities. Onquanette is very excited to be a part of the Paradise Valley School District, and she looks forward to working with students, staff and the community.
