About SMHS Choral Music Program

The Shadow Mountain High School (SMHS) Choral Music Program is a growing group of students who wish to study vocal music performance and music literacy while growing in personal responsibility and teamwork.

Students acquire skills in singing, music performance, music reading, music writing, sight reading, choreography, stage etiquette, audience etiquette, cooperation, organizational and individual success.

Currently, there are two choirs at SMHS. In addition to the four home concerts, the SMHS Choirs provide numerous performances throughout the school year singing the National Anthem for assemblies and various sporting events.

Student-Acquired Skills

Students who are enrolled into the choir program will acquire skills that will transfer into the student's everyday life. Students will continue to build and enhance many of these skills, enabling them to effectively communicate with others verbally as well as through written forms of communication. The students will begin to take on leadership roles and over seeing and management of choir projects and much more!

The Singing Shadows (Beginning/Intermediate Choir)

For any student who is new to the SMHS campus and/or choral program. The Singing Shadows Choir is a great musical experience for students who have not sung at the high school level and wish to grow musically. Time is spent preparing them for the high standards of excellence maintained in the SMHS Choral Program. They work very hard developing the musicianship and performance skills in order to move on to one of our advanced upper level groups. The Singing Shadows perform a wide variety of musical literature at all concerts throughout the year in addition to performing at some off-campus functions. No audition or placement is required for participation in The Singing Shadows Choir.

The Voices of Shadow Advanced Mixed Choir

The Voices Of Shadow Advanced Choir (VOSAC) is the advanced mixed vocal music ensemble of the Shadow Mountain High School campus. Mainly upperclassmen, VOSAC performs a great variety of vocal literature from traditional choral to choreographed show choir presentations. Students selected for VOSAC from audition and director placement.
